Introduced in the Cold Creek Series, the series' protagonist is Sheridan Hendley, a professor and psychologist in the Psychology Department. Bright and curious, she is a natural amateur sleuth. Moreover, she is an advocate for the underdog, or in this series, the obvious suspect. Intended as a cozy mystery series, each book is a mystery that is completed within that book - a stand alone mystery. Relationships and romance, however, continue to evolve with each new book. When Sheridan moves from Cold Creek, her adventures and mysteries continue in the Sheridan Hendley Mysteries.

Major Recurring Characters
Sheridan Hendley: Professor/Psychologist, coffee drinker, divorced, analytic and curious by nature, begins sleuthing when a colleague is killed and her best friend is a suspect. She is told to assist the State Police Detective.
Kim Pennzel: Professor/Psychologist , divorced, spontaneous and extroverted, Sheridan's best friend and confidant, in a relationship with Adam Millberg, the victim in the first book.
Max Bentley: Professor, married (Stella), melodramatic and highly reactive, runs experiments with mice, self-centered, intimidated by Detective Brett McMann.
Brett McMann: Detective with Virginia State Police, who is called in regarding murder of faculty member at the request of college administration. He's divorced, with a daughter, Madison (Maddie). He and Sheridan develop a relationship across the books in the series.
Martin (Marty) Cohn: Attorney, originally enlisted to represent Kim if needed. He represents the groundskeeper in Murder in the Arboretum and the favored waitress in Murder at the Grill, with Sheridan sleuthing assistance.
